2019 Election: INEC releases facts and stats about Nigeria’s 36 state and FCT

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the number of persons who have collected their PVC’s per state.

INEC has finally released the full list of permanent voter cards (PVCs) collected across Nigeria following their promise.

Before now, many of us only had statistics of the number of registered voters – which cannot be largely relied upon – well, here is the number of PVC collected by state, this 2019, as at 11-02-2019.

According to the electoral body, at least 72 million Nigerians have collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2019 elections.

Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the commission, said the 72.7 million who have collected their PVCs represent 86.3 percent of the over 84 million registered voters in the country.

Katsina, the home state of President Buhari, recorded 98.69% collection rate, while Adamawa where Atiku Abubakar, his main challenger, comes from, recorded 90.66%.

In raw figure, Lagos state had the highest number of collections with 5.5 million, followed by Kano with 4.6 million.

INEC had said the total number of registered voters in the country stood at 84,004,084 — just 42 percent of Nigeria’s population which currently stands at 198 million.

Mahmood gave the exact number of total PVCs collected as 72,775,585, with 11.2 million cards uncollected.

The 72.7 million collection rate is 16,344,330 more than the 56,431,255 collected in 2015.

This shows an increase of 22 percent in the number of the PVCs collected compared to 2015.

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Wednesday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the new minimum wage bill. The NLC said  since the National Assembly approved the new minimum wage of N30,000 and passed it to the President for his assent nothing had been heard about it. The 3 day training of The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) Ad-hoc staff has just concluded today at Christ The King Primary School Okpoma Yala LGA of Cross River State of Nigeria , with over 500 persons attended.

January 31 2019 Day 1, of the training, facilitators grouped their audience into their various categories; those categories are: 1. Corps member 2. Ex-corps member 3. Students of  federal and state tertiary institution 4. Staff members of federal agencies and MDA's Training commenced, facilitators lectured on the portfolios that will be assigned to an Ad-hoc staff. Also the audience were told the ethics of the commission, as well as the mission and vision. Briefing were  made on the method of voting and the day election is going to start as well as the time also. Day 2, all the audience in the training were told those functions and the roles an Ad-hoc staff is going to play on the election day, so as to ensure a peaceful free and fair election. Day 3, demonstrations were made on how to use the Smart Card Reader(SCR). After all the training sessions conducted, a post exam was given to all, to check everyone's performance.
