South Africa charges two coronavirus patients who refused to self-isolate, with attempted murder

South African police have charged two men with attempted murder after they tested positive for the coronavirus and refused to isolate themselves. Police minister Bheki Cele announced the charges on Wednesday during a press conference, saying: 'If you break these laws of regulations you are six months in or fined, or both." Prince Charles, 71, is displaying mild symptoms "but otherwise remains in good health", a spokesman said, adding that the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, has been tested but does not have the virus. Both Charles and Camilla are now self-isolating at Balmoral. Buckingham Palace said the Queen last saw her son on 12 March, but also "remains in good health". The Queen, the palace added, "is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare". Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, has declared a total lockdown in the state, as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country. The governor made the declaration in a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita. “All the entry points into Cross River State (land, air, and water) are hereby locked down. Access will be based on passing a thorough screening regime,” the statement said. He also ordered the indefinite suspension of the Local Government Council elections scheduled to hold on Saturday in the state. Governor Ayade directed that all educational institutions in the state – both public and private must shut down from Tuesday until further notice. He ordered all civil servants, except those on essential services such as medical personnel and revenue officers, to stay away from work for an initial period of two weeks, with immediate effect. Cross river state senator, die at age of 63

enator Rose Oko who represents the Cross Rivers North Senatorial District has died aged 63. According to family sources, she died last night at a UK medical facility. Until her death, she was a second term member of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly and the serving chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment. Born on September 27, 1956, late Senator Oko was a Member of the Federal House of Representatives from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 7th class of the National Assembly. She was elected into office as the first female representative from her constituency in June 2011 and sat as Deputy Chairman House Committee on Education. She is the current Senator representing the people of Cross River North Senatorial District. She was elected into office as the first female representative from her Senatorial District in June 2015. And re-elected in 2019. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.
